چکیده

Continuous stress–strength interference (SSI) model regards stress and strength as continuous random variables with known probability density function. This, to some extent, results in a limitation of its application. In this paper, stress and strength are treated as discrete random variables, and a discrete SSI model is presented by using the universal generating function (UGF) method. Finally, case studies demonstrate the validity of the discrete model in a variety of circumstances, in which stress and strength can be represented by continuous random variables, discrete random variables, or two groups of experimental data. r 2007 Elsevier Ltd. Fuzzy reliability using a discrete stress-strength interference model

Conclusions This paper uses a fuzzy linesegment method to calculate the fuzzy unreliability of a system when only discrete-interval probabilities of stress & strength inside an interference region are available. The discrete-interval probabilities are treated as fuzzy numbers. A stress-strength interference model and extended operations of fuzzy numbers are used to calculate the fuzzy unreliabi...

Solving a Joint Availability-Redundancy Optimization Model with Multi-State Components with Meta-Heuristic

This paper has been worked on a RAP with multi-state components and the performance rate of each component working state may increase by spending technical and organizational activities costs. Whereas RAP belongs to Np-Hard problems, we used Genetic algorithm (GA) and simulated annealing (SA) and for solving the presented problem and calculating system reliability universal generating function ...

MODELLING AND ANALYSIS OF A DISCRETE-TIME PRIORITY QUEUING COMPUTER NETWORK WITH PRIORITY JUMPS USING PROBABILITY GENERATING FUNCTIONS

Priority queues have a great importance in the study of computer communication networks in which different types of traffic require different quality of service standards. The discrete-time non-preemptive priority queuing model with priority jumps is proposed in this paper. On the basis of probability generating functions mean system contents and mean queuing delay characteristics are obtained....

توسعه مدل شبکه -دانه مجزای بتن برای سنگدانه‌های غیردایروی

In this paper, Lattice-Discrete Particle Model (LDPM) of concrete has been extended in 2-D to account for the effect of non-circular aggregates. To this end, the flexible equation of super-ellipse is employed for generating aggregates in order to add the simulation possibility of a greater spectrum of aggregate samples in 2-D to lattice-Discrete particle Model. Alongside this extention, require...

A New Class of Life Distributions with Multiple Change Points in Failure Rate Function

In many real life scenarios, system reliability depends on dynamic stress-strength interference, where shocks appear at random time points and the strength of a system varies over time. The resulting life distributions exhibit decreasing, increasing, upside-down and bathtub failure rate depending on the nature of strength function. This class of life distributions is useful for reliability anal...
